PASSENGER SERVICE
This is provided by MV Ilala which carries 12 cabin class passengers, 448 economy class passengers including a number of 1st Class Deck passengers and back packers. It can also carry up to 100 tonnes of dry cargo. When MV Ilala is out of service during her annual refit, then this service is provided by MV Mtendere which carries 420 Economy Class passengers only, and up to 40 tonnes of dry cargo. Plans are also underway to use ML Ncheni on short cruises out of Monkey Bay and some tourist lodges to Cape Maclear and Mvuu Camp on Shire River at Liwonde National Park.
